Ed's stilted version of San Francisco
I wasn't in pure 'blogger' mode, but here is what I shot, incomplete as it is. It was impossible to cover all of the ridiculous shit happeneing at this party. What matters is Leo Romero is this years SOTY!
Lets start with the RVCA signing: Only about 10 people found it worthwhile to get off their ass to go meet the new SKATER of the YEAR, Leo Romero, along with some of his team-mates like Cairo Foster, Keegan Sauder, Josh Harmony, Austin Stephens, and Ed Templeton. Only a small handful of people thought, "Yes, I will go and talk to these pro skaters who are there just to hang out and talk to me, perhaps they will answer some of my questions and I will be enlightened." Perhaps getting something signed by a living legend like Leo Romero is a "Gay" idea and you are way too cool to do something so stupid. This guy took some time from his day to say whats up. And he lived. And nothing bad happened to him. And the kid above came to show us his Toy Machine tattoo. All his burning questions were answered.

what an amazing lifestyle to be leading. not just from Leo's perspective as a young uprising person in the skateboarding industry, but from Ed's, who has overseen the likes of Kerry Getz, Brian Anderson and others who have completely fallen off the radar, only to re-emerge on Axion shoes (Mike Maldanado). It must be weird to see things come full circle- like some weird flashback induced from too much acid back in the day. All the actions from years previous are then lamented at some show put on by a skateboarding magazine.
I think Phelps deserves the disrespect from Leo. Too many others show him copious amounts of reverence, whereas Leo just gives him these highspeed high fives and makes fun of him. Probably all in fun, but it's good to see. Makes me laugh. That's kind of harsh, I need to mellow out on that.

Whatever. Punk/Grindcrap is different live. People just Mosh/Slam Dance to the snare/bass of the drums accompanied with the who-knows-what-the-fuck chords and singer screaming and shit. That's the formula for getting a group of humans to run into each other even though they're strangers.
Ed should have replicated the actions of that couple in the Metro thing in Vinny's link but inside of the Thrasher photo booth.jk.
I would have been ok with Grant Taylor,Westgate,Rieder, or Heath getting SOTY. I'm still bamboozled about Silas winning and I voted for Guy that one year.

the picture of Ed and Dianna in the photobooth is so adorable. They are my favourite couple. I´ve been watching the beautiful loosers documentary these last few weeks. Probably more than 10 times, it´s soo good! Everytime I see it I see new things that inspire me and it helps me create new and different things. I wish I could buy a toy machine deck that Margaret Kilgallen designed. I am so inspired by her work. Seeing her pictures and her interviews makes me happy, I love it when she says she wants everyone to make things. Stephen Powers says he wants people to be able to look at his work and say "thats mine!", his view is amazing. I tried to find out if alleged art gallery is still there in New York but I could not find anything on the web. Is it still there Ed? I´m going to NY in march for a week and I want to track down something of the beautiful loosers wich I love so much. I´m gonna get your photographybooks when I´m there. Buying them online and sending them to norway is insanely expensive. Can´s wait to get my hands on them.
