1970's SKATEBOARDING LEGEND DAVID HACKETT TO PERFORM AT DTnDT FEST ON AUGUST 28, 2004.

July 28, 2004 (Santa Monica, CA) Legendary skateboard pro David Hackett grew up in Malibu, CA. Surfing Malibu point since 1969, he was frequenting all the schoolyard banks and backyard pools of Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica with the notorious Dogtown Z-boys. David learned to ride pools from underground legends Steve Picciolo, John Palfreman, Ray Flores, Tony Alva, Jay Adams, and Wentzle Ruml. He was the first to successfully blast bionic airs on a skateboard out of a vertical surface using a Velcro binding called "Suspenders."
Hackett quickly earned a reputation for being "Insanely Radical." He won the World Title in Jr. Men's Slalom at the Hang Ten Pro Am held at the L.A. Coliseum in 1975, and the U.S. Open Men's Pool and Bowl riding title in 1978 at Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida. Hackett was the first skater to be sponsored by Alva skates (after Tony). He also won the first Oasis Pro Pool and Half pipe event. Hackett was the highest placing DogTown local (3rd) at the infamous Marina DogBowl contest, and is known for his patented move, The "Hackett Slash".

During the 80's Hack continued to blow minds by appearing in Powell Peralta's Future Primitive video and "Bomb dropped" off a huge UPS truck in Midday Manhattan NYC showing the future of bio street skating while everyone else was perfecting their "Streetplant." During those days DH was riding for Skull Skates along with Christian Hosoi, Steve Olson and Duane Peters, and had two signature models, The "Iron Cross" and The "Street Sickle."
In 2001, Hackett and Other Legendary Pros from the 70's such as Doug Saladino, Brad Bowman, and Original Z-Boy Wentzle Ruml formed "Deathbox Skateboards" and began a new era in the Skateboard industry by being the first
company to offer a full line of unique, wide, skateboards with different shapes and graphics to the market.
